Our trusted insurance partner

Travel Insured International

We send every family to Travel Insured International. Policies are underwritten and administered there; we do not process, manage or pay claims. Their A.M. Best rating is “A” (Excellent). The Student Protection Plan is written for school groups, which is why the medical and evacuation limits sit where they do.

Global Educational Tours does not process, manage or pay out insurance claims. See Terms & Conditions §7 for the exact wording.

Why it matters

Do school trips need travel insurance? Yes, once the group leaves home.

A student who gets a fever on a domestic trip is a clinic visit and a call home. A student who gets a fever in Rome, without a policy, is a credit-card conversation at 11pm. That is the practical reason we send families to Travel Insured International.

The plan does not make the trip safer. Supervision, ratios and a duty phone do that. What it does is keep a medical bill, a missed flight or a cancelled departure from becoming a second crisis on top of the first. Honest limit: the base plan pays only for reasons the policy lists. If a family wants to cancel because a sibling's tournament moved, they need Cancel For Any Reason, bought at the initial deposit. New York residents cannot buy it.

Reassurance isn’t a feeling. It’s a list you can read.

Where the limits live

Every travel insurance policy has exclusions: situations it does not pay for. We are not going to summarise them loosely, because a loose summary is worse than none.

What to do: the binding list of terms, conditions, exclusions and rates is in the Student Travel Protection specification sheet. Read it before you buy. If a specific situation worries you, ask us and we'll point you to the exact clause.

Optional · Conditions

What if…

Pick the thing you’re actually worried about

Four situations parents and organizers ask about most. Choose one and walk through what happens, step by step, and which benefit is doing the work.

“My daughter spikes a fever in Rome at 11pm.”

Illness abroad is the number-one worry, and it's the scenario the plan is built around.

  1. Call the 24/7 assistance line

Worldwide Emergency Assistance is included in the plan. Multilingual help for medical referrals, emergency cash transfers and travel arrangements, around the clock.

  2. She is seen locally

Accident & Sickness Medical Expense responds to eligible costs for illness or injury abroad: up to $50,000.

  3. If local care isn’t adequate

Emergency evacuation to adequate medical facilities when necessary. Medical Evacuation & Repatriation: up to $250,000.

  4. If she has to come home early

Trip Interruption may apply to the unused portion of the tour: up to 150% of trip cost.

“The first leg is late and the group misses the connection.”

Two separate benefits cover two separate problems: waiting, and re-routing.

  1. The clock starts

Trip Delay carries a 6-hour waiting period. Missed Trip Connection carries a 3-hour one. Note the time the delay began.

  2. Reasonable extra costs while you wait

Trip Delay: up to $2,500, paid at $250 per day. Keep every receipt: meals, a hotel, transfers.

  3. Getting back on the itinerary

Missed Trip Connection: up to $500 once the 3-hour threshold is met.

  4. Meanwhile, someone is working the phones

Worldwide Emergency Assistance is included, and our own team is reachable on +1 802-377-3311.

“His bag didn’t come off the belt in Paris.”

Delayed and lost are handled differently, and the per-article cap is the number people miss.

  1. Report it at the airport

Get the carrier’s written reference before leaving the terminal. It is the document every claim starts from.

  2. Delayed 24 hours or more

Baggage Delay: up to $300 for essentials while you wait.

  3. If it's lost, stolen or damaged

Baggage & Personal Effects: up to $1,000, with a $250 per-article limit. Personal belongings, educational materials and equipment are all in scope.

  4. Pack accordingly

Because of the per-article limit, expensive single items are worth carrying on rather than checking.

“Something happened at home and we have to pull out.”

This is where the difference between the standard plan and the CFAR upgrade really shows.

  1. Is the reason a covered one?

If yes, Trip Cancellation recovers non-refundable costs: up to 100% of trip cost. Covered reasons include illness, severe weather, or other unforeseen events as defined by the policy.

  2. If it isn’t, did you add CFAR?

Cancel For Any Reason is optional and must be purchased within the time-sensitive period. It cannot be bolted on later.

  3. Cancel at least 48 hours out

With CFAR, cancel no later than 48 hours before scheduled departure and recover up to 75% of non-refundable trip cost. Not available to residents of New York State. Additional costs and terms apply.

  4. The tour’s own policy is a separate thing

Insurance and the booking’s cancellation terms are two different documents. Read Terms & Conditions §6 for the binding cancellation and refund policy.

These walkthroughs are illustrative examples using the schedule limits above. Whether any specific claim is payable is determined solely by the policy wording issued by Travel Insured International.

If you need to claim

Who does what, and in what order

The single most common misunderstanding: claims are handled by the insurer, not by us. Knowing that on day one saves days later.

“All insurance claims must be submitted directly to Travel Insured International. MTH LLC and/or its brands does not process, manage, or pay out insurance claims.”

Terms & Conditions, §7
Ask us where to start
  1. Step 01

In an emergency, call assistance first

You do: call the 24/7 assistance number printed on the policy documents. Worldwide Emergency Assistance is included in the plan.

On our side: our own operations line, +1 802-377-3311, is reachable too, for the trip itself, not the claim.

  2. Step 02

Keep the paperwork as it happens

You do: receipts, the airline’s delay or lost-baggage reference, clinic invoices, and the dates and times things occurred.

On our side: we can confirm the booked itinerary and departure details you’ll be asked for.

  3. Step 03

File the claim with Travel Insured International

You do: submit directly to the insurer, using the policy number from your confirmation.

On our side: we do not process, manage or pay out claims, but we'll point you to the right route if you're stuck.

  4. Step 04

The decision is the policy’s to make

You do: respond to any request for further documentation.

On our side: if you want to understand a clause before you buy, email info@globaleducationaltours.com and we'll find it with you.

Two documents, not one

Cancelling the trip vs. claiming on the policy

People conflate these constantly. They are separate agreements with separate rules, and only one of them is insurance.

The booking

Your tour’s cancellation & refund policy

This is between you and Global Educational Tours. It sets out deposits, deadlines, what is refundable and what is not, and how to submit a cancellation in writing. It is binding, and it is written out in full. We don’t paraphrase it here on purpose.

  • Governs deposits, deadlines and refundability
  • Requests must be submitted in writing
  • Applies whether or not you bought insurance
Read Cancellations & Refunds, §6
The policy

What travel insurance can recover

This is between you and Travel Insured International. If a cancellation reason is one the policy covers, Trip Cancellation recovers non-refundable costs up to 100% of trip cost. If the reason isn’t covered, the optional CFAR upgrade is the only route back to a partial recovery.

  • Trip Cancellation: up to 100% of trip cost, covered reasons only
  • Optional CFAR: up to 75%, purchased within the time-sensitive period
  • CFAR cancellations: no later than 48 hours before departure
  • CFAR not available to residents of New York State

Where this page and the Terms & Conditions differ, the Terms & Conditions and the insurer’s policy wording govern. Additional costs and terms apply to CFAR.

Around the clock

It is always 3am somewhere.

Worldwide Emergency Assistance is included in the plan: round-the-clock access to multilingual assistance for medical referrals, emergency cash transfers, travel arrangements, and more. And our own line is a real one, answered by our team.

For an in-progress emergency abroad, call the 24/7 assistance number on your policy documents first. It is the line that can authorise care. Use ours for the trip, and for questions before you buy.

No scare stories. Just the same four situations, described twice. The right-hand column isn’t a disaster; it’s simply you, arranging and funding it yourself.

Quick answers

The four questions we always get

Short answers here. The full library (pricing, safety, life on tour) lives on the FAQ page.

All FAQs

Yes. We partner with Travel Insured International. We strongly recommend coverage, including Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) where available. CFAR must be purchased at the time of the initial deposit.

No. You can price a policy through the Travel Insured International agency portal at any time. If you're traveling with us and want CFAR, timing matters: it has to be purchased within the time-sensitive period, at the initial deposit.

The insurer. All insurance claims are submitted directly to Travel Insured International; Global Educational Tours does not process, manage, or pay out insurance claims. We can help you find the right route and confirm your itinerary details. See Terms & Conditions §7.

In the Student Travel Protection specification sheet. That document holds the full terms, rates and exclusions, and it governs. The schedule on this page shows the headline limits only. If a particular situation matters to you, ask us and we'll point you to the exact clause before you buy.

Still deciding?

Ask the awkward question before you buy.

Tell us the situation you’re worried about and we’ll show you where the policy addresses it, or tell you plainly that it doesn’t. That’s a more useful conversation than a brochure.
